I was recently nominated to be recognized in Voyage Ohio Magazine. Their mission is to promote mom and pops, artists, creatives, makers and small businesses by providing a platform for these hidden gems to tell their stories in their own words.

I’d love for you to read my story, one of the questions they asked was about things that I have had to struggle with. As a result, I do talk about my cancer journey. Bering that I don’t talk about it much publicly, but if you’d like to learn about my story about how I got into photography and how photography helped me with my cancer journey click the link below:

My Photography Journey

I am a local photographer who specializes in newborn, children, and maternity photography. My passion is providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience for my clients.  Photography has always interested me, but it wasn’t until after I had my first child that I decided to turn my hobby into a career. Capturing beautiful photos of my children as they grew up was important to me, so I decided to learn how to use a camera. Additionally, I took online classes and started practicing as much as I could.

Networking

I also started networking with other photographers in the area. I learned a lot from them and I was able to build a strong network of contacts.

Cancer Diagnosis

In 2018, I was diagnosed with cancer. This was a difficult time for me, but I was determined to keep working and growing my business. I continued to take photos and I even started offering some new services, such as video editing. I am so grateful for the support of my family and friends during this time. They helped me to get through it and I am now cancer-free.

As a matter of fact, photography is my passion and I love being able to capture special moments for my clients. Providing a relaxing and enjoyable experience for my clients is important to the client experience I provide.  I hope that my story will inspire others to follow their dreams. If you are thinking about starting your own photography business, I encourage you to go for it!

My Tips for Starting a Photography Business

Here are a few tips of starting your own photography business:

  • Find your niche. What type of photography are you passionate about? What type of clients do you want to work with?
  • Invest in good equipment. You don’t need to spend a fortune, but it is important to have a good camera and lens.
  • Build a strong portfolio. This is your best marketing tool. Make sure your portfolio showcases your best work.
  • Network with other photographers. They can be a great source of support and advice.
  • Be patient. It takes time to build a successful photography business. Don’t give up if you don’t see results immediately.

At this point, I hope these tips help you on your photography journey.
