High school graduation is one of life’s most significant milestones; a beautiful bridge between childhood and the exciting journey ahead. As a Columbus senior photographer, my goal is to capture this pivotal moment with portraits that are as unique and vibrant as the seniors themselves. Whether we are shooting in our high-end studio or at a meaningful outdoor location like the The Scioto Audubon, Homestead Park, Quarry Trails, Short North or any local park in Columbus, I focus on creating a relaxed, fun experience that lets your true personality shine through.
A Senior Photography Experience That Honors Your Story and Your Future
understand that for many seniors, this might be their first professional solo session. That is why I guide you through every step, from selecting the perfect outfits to natural posing that feels authentic, not forced.
A Guided Experience
or senior girls looking to truly elevate their experience, I highly recommend adding professional hair and makeup artistry to your session.
Hair & Makeup Add-On
rom athletes and artists to dreamers and scholars, I love documenting the diverse faces of Upper Arlington, Dublin, Hilliard, Olentangy, Powell, Granview, Bexley, Gahanna, New Albany, Pickerington, Westerville and the surrounding Central Ohio schools.
Honoring Every Senior
We love incorporating several different "looks" into a single session, from formal wear and casual favorites to sports jerseys and letterman jackets. To make this easy, I provide a private pop-up changing tent for our outdoor sessions. This allows you to quickly and comfortably change outfits right in the middle of a park or urban setting, ensuring we maximize our time and variety without having to hike back to a car!
Looking and feeling your absolute best is the key to confidence in front of the camera, and I am happy to provide these services as a convenient add-on. We blend editorial-style shots with classic portraits to ensure you have a diverse gallery that celebrates your interests, your style, and your achievements.
At Joanna Andres Photography, we provide a boutique experience that honors the person you’ve become and the future you’re headed toward. Let’s collaborate to create a senior portrait session that results in timeless images you will be proud to share.
Q: When is the best time to book my senior session?
A: I recommend booking your session during the summer before your senior year or early in the fall. This ensures we have plenty of time for editing and that you meet any yearbook deadlines your school may have. Spring sessions are also popular for those who want that “graduation-ready” look.
Q: How many outfits can I bring?
A: I encourage variety! Most seniors bring 3–4 different looks, ranging from casual everyday wear to formal outfits or sports uniforms. Don’t worry about logistics—I provide a private pop-up changing tent for all outdoor sessions so you can switch looks comfortably and quickly right at our location.
Q: Should I get my hair and makeup done professionally?
A: While not required, I highly recommend it! Professional camera-ready makeup is designed to look flawless under various lighting conditions and helps you feel extra confident. I offer professional hair and makeup artistry as an add-on service to make your session completely stress-free.
Q: Can we shoot at a specific location that means something to me?
A: Absolutely! Whether it’s your high school stadium, a favorite park in Dublin, or an urban alleyway in the Short North, I love shooting at locations that reflect your personality. If you aren’t sure where to go, I have a curated list of the best spots in Central Ohio to share with you.
Q: What happens if it rains on my session date?
A: Since we live in Ohio, the weather can be unpredictable! If it rains, we can either move the session into my Columbus photography studio or reschedule for the next available clear day at no additional cost.
To make sure your session goes smoothly and we capture the best variety of looks, here is a quick list of items to pack in your "session bag":
✓ 3–4 Outfits: I recommend a mix! Bring one formal look (suit/dress), one casual "everyday" outfit (jeans and a favorite tee), and something that represents your hobbies, like a letterman jacket, sports uniform, or even a musical instrument.
✓ The Right Undergarments: This is a big one! Make sure you have the correct bras (strapless or nude) for specific dresses and the right color socks for dress shoes.
✓ Accessories & Layers: Hats, jewelry, scarves, or a cool denim jacket can completely change the vibe of an outfit without a full wardrobe change.
✓ Grooming Kit: Bring a brush, hairspray, lip balm or gloss, and a small mirror for quick touch-ups between shots.
✓ Personal Props: Whether it’s your soccer ball, your favorite book, or even your dog, I love incorporating things that make you you. (Please just let me know ahead of time if a furry friend is joining us as not all parks allow pets so we will need to find a park that will accomodate pets!)
✓ Comfortable Walking Shoes: We may do a little bit of walking to get to the best light or the perfect backdrop, so bring a pair of flip-flops or slides to wear between shots so your feet don't get tired in your "photo shoes."

First, we’ll hop on a phone consultation to discuss the vision for your session. I want to hear all about what you’re looking for! Are you wanting an urban, edgy feel in the Short North, or a more relaxed, natural park vibe? We’ll talk about current trends, your personal style, and the overall aesthetic you want to achieve so your photos feel like you.
1. The Creative Vision Call
2. PSecure Your Date
Once we’ve nailed down the vision, we make it official. A $150 retainer fee is required to secure your spot on my calendar.
Pro-Tip: If you want to go full "glam" and include a professional hair and makeup artist, let me know during this step! The fee will be slightly higher to secure our HMU specialist, but it’s the best way to ensure you're camera-ready and feeling your most confident.
Next, we determine the exact location and time. I’ll help you pick a spot in Columbus or the surrounding suburbs that perfectly matches the "look" we discussed in Step 1. We’ll aim for that "golden hour" lighting to make sure your skin and hair look incredible.
3. Location & Logistics
It’s showtime! We’ll meet at our location and get to work. Don't worry about where to change—I bring a private pop-up tent so you can switch between your dressy, casual, and sports looks right on-site. We’ll play some music, keep the energy high, and capture a huge variety of poses and expressions.
4. The Session!
This is the best part! About two weeks after your session, we’ll meet for your Reveal and Ordering Appointment. You’ll get to see all the images I created for the first time. While I offer digital packages, most of my clients fall in love with our custom collections. These include:
Keesake Albums: Perfect for displaying at your graduation party for friends and family to sign!
Heirloom Wall Art: High-end wood prints, canvases, and framed portraits that turn your favorite memories into art for your home.
5. The Reveal & Ordering Appointment
I cannot recommend Joanna enough! We went to her for newborn pictures and had the most amazing experience. She is such a genuinely kind person who I completely trusted with our newborn. She also had our preliminary pictures back to us the same day and we could not be happier. I am so glad we not only had the pleasure of working with her but also just meeting someone who made it such an enjoyable memorable experience!

"She made it such an enjoyable & memorable experience!."
Joanna has a special gift for working with newborns. She handled our two-week old baby with the utmost care. I would recommend her to anyone looking to capture their newborn's first images. We were so pleased with the images and appreciate her expertise and professionalism. We also worked with Joanna for our baby announcements, the quality of which was far superior than any mail-order program. Joanna: Thank You for capturing this very special moment in time for our family. We will treasure the images always.
With appreciation!
