4 Tips for Keeping Your Photoshoot Safe During the Covid Pandemic

Photoshoot safe

Everyone thought that, by this point in time, the pandemic would be history, but unfortunately, it is far from over. Even though a majority of the population in the UK have received at least one shot of the covid vaccine, there are still pockets of concern. It is still recommended to follow safety measures until further notice. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight to the ongoing pandemic so if you own and operate a modeling agency or a photography studio, these “photoshoot safe” safety tips should help keep the virus at bay.

1. Require Proof of Vaccination and/or Rapid Tests

It is up to the agency or studio to require proof of vaccination among workers if they are in close contact with the public. However, when models or budding models enter the studio, you can also require either proof of having been vaccinated or results of an antigen rapid test. These are not as invasive as the longer PCR tests, albeit not as accurate, but they do offer a level of reassurance and allow you to stay photoshoot safe.

2. Keep Everything Sanitized Between Shoots

This is especially important if models are going to be using any props or items others will be using or have used in previous shoots. Hospital-grade disinfectants can be purchased at bulk prices on sites that specialize in GP supplies. From disinfectant sprays to cleaning chemicals and wipes, these should be on hand at all times.

3. Observe Social Distancing & Masking to Stay Photoshoot Safe

There may be times when you are doing a casting call for models, and it might be a bit difficult to keep them at least the required two meters apart when lining up.
However, if you want to ensure the health and safety of all involved, you will do your best to keep them distanced if at all possible. Social distancing and masking have been found to be the most effective in preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2. As for masking, it may be difficult if models arrive already made-up but, if possible, insist they stay masked until their makeup is applied and/or touched up.

4. Keep Outside Air Flowing Through If Possible

With winter just around the corner, this may be a bit impractical but, if at all possible, open windows and keep the outside air flowing through. Being in close proximity indoors is the surest way to transmit the virus so do all you can to keep the air fresh and flowing.
With new variants popping up over time, there still is no way of knowing how well the vaccine will guard against infection with these newer mutations. As a result, it is up to everyone to do their part to mitigate the spread of this highly infectious disease. While there was a time when it seemed as if only older and infirm people would see the worst of it, the latest figures show that younger people are now succumbing to the virus. Keep your models and your photographers safe by observing simple precautionary measures.
